My Intent To Take A Master’s Program In Health Promotion

Please accept my letter of interest to apply for the Master’s Program in Health Promotion for the Fall 2019 Semester at Faculty of Public health, University of Alberta Canada. You program offers a number of experiences that are important to me in the field of health promotion. This includes a variety rotations, teaching and research, as well as community outreach.

I am a Nigerian graduate of the Federal University of Technology Owerri. My dream in life is to promote health, improve health, prevent diseases, and prolong life for my country Nigeria and the entire world. I currently achieve this by actively participating in voluntary services relating both to community development and health. . My duties as a member of the Society for Family Health, include ensuring that HIV/AIDS-infected patients receive excellent Care, Support and Treatment. Interacting with patients and health care providers during monitoring-supported visits, I work to encourage, mentor and close gaps in adherence of anti-retrovirals, antituberculosis and antibiotics at all the health facilities managed and funded by the Organization. During my undergraduate studies, I volunteered with the Global Youth Coalition on AIDS. I learned about HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care and Treatment. I have had very little personal contact with HIV/AIDS-positive people. During my volunteering, I became more interested in HIV/AIDS programming. On that fateful day, a family relative and her children had visited the clinic to obtain Anti-Retroviral Therapy. I realized how important it was to take a proactive role in fighting HIV/AIDS. Every day since I became an adult, my desire to fight this epidemic has grown. In 2016, approximately 7 million HIV positive people in the world and 1. 8million new infections are occurring globally. My interest and compassion for Health Promotion is growing, especially since the most affected area of Africa is Africa with 25. As of 2016, 6 million people lived with HIV. My experience has taught me that the Faculty of Public Health of University of Alberta Canada seeks individuals who are goal-oriented and goal-driven. I have no doubt that I fall into this category. Due to past and present experiences that have helped to strengthen my determination, resilience, resolve and commitment to make an important contribution to my communities, I was attracted by the idea of pursuing my Masters in Health Promoteion. I am convinced that my knowledge gained from working with your institution is invaluable. I am looking forward to developing my skills in the areas of Population Management, Global Health, Emergency and Humanitarian Response, and other related fields. If given the opportunity, I would be happy to share with you my previous experiences and journey with you along my personal development. This will lead to a variety of transformations within myself, my immediate surroundings, community, nation, and Africa as a whole.
