Writing a foreign language is about understanding the writing process and methods. Learning English is about writing and reading it. It allows you to write and narrate in English. I want to learn English and improve my writing skills. This essay will discuss my experiences with the language barrier. Arabic, my first language, is not widely spoken so I need to learn English writing and reading.

Learning English is a difficult task. First, I don’t fear making mistakes. My confidence is what makes it possible for me to make mistakes and have people around me correct them. Douglass’s life is a painful reminder of the hard truths you must face when learning another language. (Cohen23) We all make mistakes when learning foreign languages. Confidence is gained when people around one can understand the language being learned. (Clement, Dornyei, and Noels 417) I’ve been diligent in learning the language because I live near English-speaking people. It is important to practice speaking in order to master a language. My study plan has been a constant reminder to me to learn English. My study plan has been a constant reminder of what I do. I spent a lot of time reading the English language and trying to understand the concepts. Since they make sure I adhere to my plan, my friends have been a great help. My study plan is something they support and encourage me to do. Douglass’s tale demonstrates that we shouldn’t just be focused on our knowledge, but also the friendships we have. My long-term goal is to learn English and I am focusing on it while I study. I want to become fluent in the English language and be able to write without making mistakes. I’ve learned what works for me in my journey to learn English language. Passive constructs found in newspaper articles help me to build sentences. I can also read graded readers, which are books written at my level.

An article in the 50 Essays a Portable Anthology brings back a memory of a personal experience where I was unable to understand class due to language barriers. Fredrick Douglass Learning the art of reading and writing, it is mentioned that Douglass is now a mature writer. His education has enabled him to put the knowledge gained outside into practice. (Cohen22) The text states that Douglass must discuss his story of learning to read, write and speak a specific language.

When I was unable to understand the concept being explained by my teacher at high school, I’m reminded of the trauma that I went through. After only two months of studying the language, I was ready to start my career. It was so difficult to remember how I felt, as every word seemed to fly by. It was important to learn the topic and then put it into writing. My frustration was at its zenith when I was unable to write down my points while others were busy scribbling them down. Students should be able understand arguments and make the most of them. Douglass’s story emphasizes the importance of what Douglass also learns beyond reading and composing. (Cohen 22). I was unable to apply any idea to class because of my lack of understanding. It is crucial that the same idea one has in another field is applied to it.

It is important to remember that learning a language requires you to master new words. You must also develop strategies to make it easier. It is difficult for adults learn to read and write foreign languages. Learning a foreign language can be done in many ways. The best way to learn a new language is one that suits you best.
