My Academic Interests In The University Of Pennsylvania

Are you ready to alter reality? Are you looking to transcend the conventions of society? Are you ready to be yourself? These were the fundamental questions that I was looking for answers to when considering my college options. I heard about it from a friend who wanted to study Actuarial Sciences. It was a great choice. The College of Arts and Sciences seemed like the perfect match for my questions. If I wanted to explore my intellectual interests, the University of Pennsylvania would be the best place.

I feel we would go nowhere if I gushed on the subject for the remainder. It would be helpful if I briefly outline my interests before I discuss how UPenn can accommodate them. I am an aspiring theoretical-physicist. In my spare time, I have always been interested in learning more about mathematics and physics while also participating in contests to improve my knowledge. I was able to achieve decent results in the Euclid Mathematics contest. 2nd place in RIT Dubai Mathematics contest. 3rd rank UAE for IPhO qualifiers. But, I also explore my interests in other ‘unconventional’ ways. My free time is spent creating theories about nature. While they are not official research projects, I am most proud of my theory of the division of the universe into Energy layers, which I called ‘The Energy Layer Theory’. My theory is not something I am proud of, but it’s nothing that I consider to be extraordinary. It is a 17-year-old’s imagination, and it cannot be dismissed in its current form. I would not be surprised if it was the final! As I stated at the beginning, my desire to redefine reality is beyond what we are used to. This is where UPenn comes into play. I would like to expand my research interests, but I need to have a good understanding of Physics. The College of Arts and Sciences offers a Physics course, which I find more than ideal. Its emphasis on Physics Theory and Experimental Technique, as well as the possibility to enter the Honors Program, serve as a way for me to not only strengthen my knowledge but also help me pursue my research interests. The evidence doesn’t lie. It is obvious that the College of Arts and Sciences played a critical role in pioneering international research operations.

Billy Mays, the late, great American poet, said “But wait! There’s more!” I feel like an adventure book with the choice to either work under faculty or seniors, or even dive into your research projects as an undergrad. While I am open to a new direction, I also feel that I must first build my research foundations before I can jump in. I would therefore like to learn and do work simultaneously. I also want to be challenged academically, so UPenn’s Physics Honors Courses would be a wonderful option.

UPenn offers something that others don’t. Its strong integration and interplay with undergraduate research, and emphasis on freedom in undergraduate research, are all things that I value. I wouldn’t settle for anything else if I wanted to make a real difference in the world and allow my interests to flourish.
